2 CONT OBITUARY: The Mt. Vernon Register News published the following on Tuesday, June 17, 1986.  "R
2 CONC obert K. "Bob" Thompson, 65, 1500 Pace Avenue, died at 3:02 a.m. June 16, 1986, in Good Samar
2 CONC itan Hospital.  Mr. Thompson was born November 5, 1920, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Charles J. an
2 CONC d Ruth D. (Dodds) Thompson.  On October 18, 1941, at St. Charles, Missouri, he married Maria
2 CONC n L. Manley, who survives.  The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home wit
2 CONC h the Very Rev. Robert D. Harmon officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  Frien
2 CONC ds may call at Hughey Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today.  Mr. Thompson was associated with, an
2 CONC d held several positions with The Register News for 39 years, serving last as general manager
2 CONC .  Following that he worked for Century 21 Bee Realtors as a real estate salesman.  In additi
2 CONC on to his wife, Mr. Thompson is survived by one son, Charles R. Thompson of Chicago; two daug
2 CONC hters, Mrs. John S. (Charlotte) Suhler of Darien, Connecticut, and Mrs. Chris G. (Debi) Dixo
2 CONC n of Breese; one brother, William D. Thompson of Warrensburg, Mo.; five grandchildren, Ashley
2 CONC , Courtney and Brooke Suhler and Charlee and Casey Dixon; and several neices and nephews.  Mr
2 CONC . Thompson was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church.  He was also a member of the Mt. Ver
2 CONC non Masonic Lodge No. 31 AF & AM, Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, Jeffeson County Shri
2 CONC ne Club, Oakwood Cemetery Board, Green Hills Country Club and Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge.  He wa

2 CONC m Thomas Manley, a retired grocer, died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital.  H
2 CONC e was 91 years and seven months of age.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. a
2 CONC t the Pulley Funeral Chapel.  The Rev. Howard Flots and the Rev. Otho Williams will officiat
2 CONC e ... .  The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home, where friends may call at an
2 CONC y time."  His wife, Ida Edna Winfree preceded him in death although a date is not known.  Fam
2 CONC ily members believe she died in St. Louis, Missouri. "Mr. Manley was a member of the Free Wil

2 CONC Lewis G. Manley, 51, of Mt. Vernon, died at 6:39 p.m. Monday, November 28, 1994, at Crossroad
2 CONC s Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.  He was born July 31, 1943, at Mt. Vernon, son of John Le
2 CONC roy "Roy" and Bertha Irene (Dodson) Manley.  He married Peggy L. Ince on September 1, 1992, i
2 CONC n Mt. Vernon, and she survives.  Other survivors include his mother, Bertha I. Rainey of Mt
2 CONC . Vernon; three sons, John Manley of Henderson, Ky., and Robert L. Manley and Billy Manley, b
2 CONC oth of Centralia; three stepdaughters, Letha Lane and husband, Dean, and Dana Ince, all of Mt
2 CONC . Vernon, and Mary McCarthy of Centralia; one brother Jerry Manley and wife, Barbara, of Mt
2 CONC . Vernon; two stepbrothers, Michael Rainey of Louisville and Norman Rainey and wife, Vickey
2 CONC , of Mt. Vernon; one stepsister, Louise Goldman of Texas; 12 grandchildren; and several niece
2 CONC s and nephews.  Mr. Manley was precededin death by his fatehr and stepfather, Albert M. "Dip
2 CONC " Rainey.  Mr. Manley was an auto mechanic and was also employed at Bodine Scrap Metal Co. H
2 CONC e was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He was an avid citizens band radio operator and was know
2 CONC n as "Billy the Kid."  He was of the Pentecostal faith.  Graveside services are 11 a.m. Wedne
2 CONC sday at Bethel Memorial Cemetery..."

2 CONC y of 715 South 10th Street died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital at the age o
2 CONC f 50 years, five months, and 14 days.  For 22 years, Mr. Manley was service attendant at th
2 CONC e South Side Gulf Station.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Myers Chap
2 CONC el with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating.  Burial will be in Old Union Cememtery.  The bod
2 CONC y will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. today.  Mr. Manle

2 CONC o years.  She was 77 years old.  Mrs. Winfree who was respected by all who knew her, suffere
2 CONC d a fractured hip in a fall more than two years ago and was a patient at Holden Hospital in C
2 CONC arbondale for a year.  About a year ago she was brought back to her home in Mt. Vernon and ha
2 CONC d been confined to her bed since.  Throughout all her life, Mrs. Winfree was highly regarde
2 CONC d as a woman of sterling character and the finest attributes of a wife and mother.  Her husba
2 CONC nd died seven years ago.  Surviving are two sons and three daughters.  The sons are: Charle

2 CONC hich read: "James L. Winfree, Sr. died yesterday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock at his home in thi
2 CONC s city.  Mr. Winfree had been in poor health for the last year, and his condition had been se
2 CONC rious the last ten days.  Mr. Winfree was 82 years old and was born in Tennessee, but came t
2 CONC o Illinois early in life and the remainder of his life was spent in this state.  Mr. Winfre
2 CONC e was a member of the Wesley M.E. Church, with which he had been afflicted many years.  He wa
2 CONC s a quiet, unobtrusive man, but a good citizen and a faithful christian.  He belonged to no o
2 CONC rders but was greatly attached to the church and all it stood for, and he was held in the hig
2 CONC hest respect by all who knew him.  Mr. Winfree was twice married and is survived by his secon
2 CONC d wife.  The following children were born to his first union: Mrs. Edith Garugus, and Mrs. Lu
2 CONC ie Morris, Benton, and Mrs. Ida Manley, St. Louis.  The following children were born to the s
